In 2013 Sportsmed East moved into its new premises on Woodbridge Road in Ipswich. With 3 clinic rooms, off road parking and a custom built exercise area Sportsmed East is now able to offer unrivalled facilities in the Ipswich area.

David Hodgkinson

Director - Emergency Medicine Consultant and Sports Physician

David qualified at Nottingham medical school in 1983. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Royal College of Physicians, the College of Emergency Medicine, and a Fellow of the faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine. He is currently The Director Of Emergency Medicine at Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. In addition he consults at The Nuffield Hospital Ipswich and The Havens, Ipswich.

David Williams

Director - Chartered Physiotherapist

David studied Physiotherapy at Kings College Hospital, London, qualifying in 1987. He spent the first half of his career in the NHS, principally as a senior Physiotherapist at The Royal London Hospital. In 1993 he Joined Tottenham Hotspurs Football Club as a Physiotherapist before moving to Ipswich Town Football Club as their Head Physiotherapist. In 2004 David completed a Masters in Sports and Exercise Science at Essex University.

Jonathan George

Director - Chartered Physiotherapist

Jonathan graduated from Brunel University in 1997 with an honours degree in Physiotherapy. Since then Jonathan has worked in both the public and private sector with a specialist interest in musculoskeletal disorders. As well as being Head Physiotherapist at QPR Football Club, Jonathan has extensive experience in the treatment and rehabilitation of sports injuries and has worked with elite athletes in the fields of athletics, tennis, golf and motor racing.

Charlotte Long

Sports Therapist

Charlotte graduated from the University of Worcester in 2014 with BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy, enabling her to gain full membership to The Society of Sports Therapists. In July 2015, Charlotte was selected as a Sports Therapist for The Gothia World Youth Football Club in Sweden. Charlotte is currently combining clinical base sessions, including a knee rehabilitation evening class, with pitch side duties for Leiston Town FC.

Michael Beaton

Sports Therapist

Michael graduated from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2007 with an honours degree in Sports and Exercise Science. In 2009 he completed a master’s degree in Sports Therapy at London Metropolitan University, enabling him to gain membership to the Society of Sports Therapists.. Michael has worked in private practise for 3 years, treating a diversity of sports, exercise related and accidental injuries. He specialises in sports specific rehabilitation, sports massage and injury prevention.

Esther Simpson

Chartered Physiotherapist

Esther gratuated at the University of East Anglia in 2002 and has worked in both the NHS and private sector. She has worked in paediatric musculoskeletal consultant clinics and set up an acute paediatric triage clinic. In recent years she has specialised in the assessment and treatment of adult musculoskeltal disorders and she has helped to establish the Back Rehabilitation Programme at Ipswich Hospital.

Jennie Norris

Named Position

Jennie qualified as a physiotherapist in 1999 with a BSc(Hons) degree from Southampton University. She has specialized in the assessment and treatment of shoulder disorders since 2003. She is a member of the British Elbow and Shoulder Society, and regularly attends conferences and courses to ensure she is up to date with current practice. She works closely with a local shoulder surgeon and is involved in writing treatment guidelines and teaching to other physiotherapists and doctors.

Gary Rogerson

Named Position

Gary specialises in the treatment and management of spinal disorders. Gary graduated from Leeds University with a BSc(hons) degree in 1992. In 1999 he completed a Masters in manipulative therapy at Curtin university Western Australia. He currently works in the Spinal service at Ipswich hospital/Suffolk PCT as well as Sportsmed East’s clinics. Gary has a particular interest in the treatment of spinal pathologies and cervical headaches.

Josh Todd

Osteopath

Josh graduated from the British School of Osteopathy in 2014 with a Masters Degree in Osteopathy. Josh treats all aspects of musculoskeletal disorders but has special interests in spinal disorders, sports injuries and biomechanical/postural dysfunction. Since qualifying as an Osteopath, Josh has specialised in the assessment and treatment of rugby related injuries.

Charlotte Page

Sports Therapist

Charlotte has recently graduated from The University of Kent with a First Class Honours degree in Sports Therapy. During her time studying, she gained experience working with international level trampolinists and academy basketball players. Charlotte is a member of The Society of Sports Therapists and will be combining her clinic time with pitch-side treatment at Ipswich Basketball Academy and Ipswich Rugby Club.

Ollie Howard

Sports Therapist

Ollie qualified as a Sports Therapist in 2013 and is a member of the Society of Sports Therapists. He has continued to gain further qualifications such as the Sports Trauma Management Certificate and combines clinical based sessions with pitch-side duties for various rugby clubs and schools.
